In honor of Small Business Saturday, we chatted with growing brands making an impact: Golde, Rooted and Kosterina. From overcoming supply chain challenges to building a community, creating new products and more, these brands are focused on staying true to their own unique mission. We love a great brand story at Goody and we're thrilled to see these brands continue to thrive!

Golde

What has been the biggest challenge in growing your business and what has been the most rewarding part?

Nailing the balance of scale without losing the heart of the brand is always something we work at. The most rewarding part has been the opportunity to build an incredible team and customer community around our mission. It’s exciting when you find that the vision is bigger than just what you alone can accomplish.

How has your experience been working with Goody and how do you think Goody impacts your business?

We are so happy to be sharing our superfood kits with Goody this season to make it even easier to give the gift of self-care. Adding an easy and accessible way for gifters to share Golde, gives more people the opportunity to discover our brand and products.

Rooted

What has been the biggest challenge in growing your business and what has been the most rewarding part?

Our biggest challenges as of late have come from building our own supply chain. We used to source most of our plants from other growers, but it was always a challenge to find the best varieties, sizes, and quality of plants for our customers. So in 2020, we decided to build our own two-acre greenhouse facility. Now we’re growing our own plants and can optimally connect customer demand with supply, control health and quality of product, and institute more environmentally-friendly growing processes.

The most rewarding part remains seeing our customers consistently so stoked to receive and/or gift plants. Our mission has always been to share our love of nature with others. The thesis here is that if we can show people how incredible plants are, this positive association will spill into their attitude for and actions towards our environment. So I suppose we’re glad that we’re still inspiring and encouraging people to welcome the natural world into their homes and livelihoods.

How has your experience been working with Goody and how do you think Goody impacts your business?

Goody is such a great (and on-trend) resource for our new and existing customers to share Rooted with their loved ones. It also helps that Goody’s gifting experience (for both buyers and recipients) is so frictionless and fun, so brand affinity is instilled on day one with any new customers.

Kosterina

What has been the biggest challenge in growing your business and what has been the most rewarding part?

I had been looking for the kind of superior quality extra virgin olive oil that I had gotten to enjoy myself visiting my native Greece, and had finally found the right farmer partners to be able to bring that liquid gold to the US. I launched Kosterina with our initial line of premium extra virgin olive oils in January 2020, which means my biggest challenge came just two months later, when the entire world shut down due to the global pandemic. We have been hit hard by the ensuing global supply chain challenges, especially as our olive oil and some of our packaging come from Europe.

On the other hand, however, every challenge also presents an opportunity, and I’m so proud of how far Kosterina has come since we started. The most rewarding part of growing Kosterina has been building a small but mighty, resourceful and passionate team that has successfully navigated all of our logistical challenges. Since January 2020, we’ve tripled our revenue year over year, expanded our offerings to include balsamic vinegars and dark chocolate bars, entered the retail space by introducing our products at Whole Foods, Crate and Barrel, Goody and more, and expanded into the beauty space with our latest offering: premium, EVOO-based skincare.

How has your experience been working with Goody and how do you think Goody impacts your business?

At Kosterina, we offer ultra-premium extra virgin olive oils (EVOO), balsamic vinegars, EVOO-based skincare and other amazing products. Our customers love to share our products with their loved ones as gifts, so when Goody approached us to feature our products on their platform it was a perfect fit. As a young brand, Goody has enabled us to reach an even wider audience, and has made the logistics behind it all extremely seamless. We have loved our partnership with Goody and are excited to continue to grow together.
Separately, I have been so pleased to discover Goody for my own personal use because it’s SO EASY! I think I may have gifted those Bala bangles to 10 or 15 friends already.
